WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT OSTEOPOROSIS?
Because I was suffering from severe osteoporosis beginning in my late 20’s, I wanted to write a book describing what living with this disease is like. I have suffered numerous fractures and surgeries. It is painful and debilitating. I must walk with a cane and can not lift anything over five pounds (yes, I do cheat).

I wanted people to become aware and realize it could happen to them if they did not learn all they can to slow down or prevent the onset of osteoporosis. Having had so many fractures (some very serious) it is important to know your bone health and do everything possible to assure a longer, healthier life with quality living. I do not want anyone else to go through what I have been through. Each person owes that to themselves.

WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU DONE TO SPREAD OSTEOPOROSIS AWARENESS?
I have spoken at women’s health expos, different groups and organization, done talk radio and run a support group in my home town. I have spoken in the offices of Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, Senator Jon Kyl and Senator John McCain at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. as well as Dallas, Texas for World Osteoporosis Day on behalf of the National Osteoporosis Foundation NOF). I sell car ribbon magnets that say “FIGHT OSTEOPOROSIS’ and two dollars from each sale is donated to the NOF to further research. I will soon begin reaching out to speak in at least one community in each of the 14 states without a National Osteoporosis Foundation Support Group. Hopefully it will spark somebody to start up a group. And the NOF will provide all the information free of charge to run a Support Group efficiently.

WHAT WILL PEOPLE TAKE FROM READING “LIVING Day to DAY with SEVERE OSTEOPOROSIS, 2012 UPDATE”?
Readers will learn what osteoporosis is and its causes. How to be tested and medications (as well as web site addresses concerning those medications) that can slow down or prevent the onset of osteoporosis. There are risk factors a person change and some they can not change. The book discusses diet and includes calcium-rich recipes as well as additional web site addresses for more recipes. And since osteoporosis does not discriminate, there is a chapter just for men along with a lot more information.

WILL YOU WRITE MORE BOOKS ON OSTEOPOROSIS?
Living Day to Day with Severe Osteoporosis, 2012 is my second and final book on osteoporosis. I learned so much going through the process for the first book. I was really taken for a ride. This new book is so much more professional and hopefully I will not see mistakes that were overseen the first time.

Osteoporosis has consumed my life and I need a change. I will still continue to be an osteoporosis advocate but I need to have positive things going on in my life.

I need to refocus and have begun writing under a new Gen´re. I am starting a Romance series of six books and have joined the Desert Rose Chapter of Romance Writers of America in Scottsdale, Arizona. I look forward to what the future holds for me.
