February 2010

It is hard to believe that February has already arrived. Time seems to fly by so quickly.

Before I get in to my news for the month I apologize for any  inconsistencies with this site. It has a program problem that does not seem to be able to be resolved. A new site will be up as the new book comes out. I promise it will be resolved.

Currently my new book is being reviewed by two doctors who are on the board for the   National Osteoporosis Foundation. When I get their reviews back the book is off to the editor. Art work for the cover begins soon and the book should be out by early April. Updates will be posted as things move along.

A wonderful site for osteoporosis is teaminspire. This site is provided by the National Osteoporosis Foundation. There you can communicate with others going through the same trials that you are and find friends, support and medical suggestions. I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have been able to communicate with on this site. I have been in contact with one member and will be visiting her home state of Ohio in a few months to speak on osteoporosis and to promote the National Osteoporosis Foundation and the importance of a support group.

Please remember that I am a "Proceeds Partner" with the National Osteoporosis Foundation selling car ribbon magnets that say "FIGHT OSTEOPOROSIS". I have provided  this link to their page. The National Osteoporosis Foundation has set up a link from their site back to mine for purchasing the magnets. For each magnet that is sold with NOF by your name- the National Osteoporosis Foundation will receive $2.00. So please visit them for fantastic information on osteoporosis and bone health. You might even consider becoming an advocate and starting a support group in your community. They provide all the necessary booklets and information for free to help the meetings run smoothly and efficiently.

If you have the time check out empowher.com. This is an awesome site you really need to see. I met Michelle, the owner, in Washington, D.C. last May. She started the site three years ago and has gone global. There is a ton of information to help women with all kinds of questions regarding health issues. It is a video medical library. I am a provider with both articles and videos on osteoporosis.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation will be holding their Silhouette Awards Dinner on May 19, 2010, in Washington, D.C. I look forward to attending again this year and hope to speak at the Capitol again stressing the need for our voices to be heard regarding bone health and osteoporosis prevention.

Until next month- stay warm, dry, healthy and safe.
